A Day at The Academy

Wesley Homes Des Moines hosted A Day at The Academy on Thursday, March 4th. It was a lovely day filled with star cuisine, movies and prizes for the 300 guests who attended.

Morrison Senior Dining put on a wonderful feast of little bites – a preview of the cuisine Wolfgang Puck is preparing for Sunday’s Awards event. Six Executive Chefs joined Wesley Homes’ own Chef, Chuck Chalfant in preparing all the wonderful food and desserts.

The winner of the ballot contest will be announced after the awards are presented for nominated movies on Sunday night – no later than March 15, 2010.

Hazel and Fred Douglas Share Their Home Sale Experience

Hazel and Fred Douglas made the decision that when they turned 75 they would move out of their home of 41 1/2 years, where they raised their family, and move into a retirement community.  “We considered moving to a condominium or an apartment, but what we really wanted was the interaction of a community,” said Fred.

Pets play a valuable role in making new friends.  And one look at the well-cared for pets of Wesley Homes residents reveals a lot about the quality of life for pets as well as the neighborly culture of the community.

Nelson Kamithi, primary care giver, earns praise for his care and compassion

Sometimes we don’t know a good thing until we experience it.   And convincing a loved one that they will enjoy the help of a home health caregiver is not easy duty if Granddad is “set in his ways”. 

Janelle Ansell, a license Long Term Care Administrator,  witnessed this familiar drama unfold in her own family as she watched her parents struggle to provide the support and care needed by her grandfather described by Ansell as “one tough customer.”
